How to detail a car interior
Whether you’ve had your vehicle for years, or its new-to-you, you want to keep it looking its best. That’s why it’s important that you take care of both its interior and exterior. So not only do you need to have regular maintenance performed under the hood, but you should also perform a thorough detailing of your vehicle’s interior. To help you get the job done on your own, we here at Ultimate Motors have put together step-by-step instructions to show you how to detail a car interior.
When you start, the first step is to vacuum the surfaces of your car interior. Start by removing floor mats and vacuuming them thoroughly. Then you can move on to the other dusty or dirty surfaces of your car, working from the top of your car, down.
2 – Clean surfaces and carpet
Using a foaming cleanser, clean away any stains or dirt in the carpet or upholstery. You can do this by applying the cleanser directly to the stain and rubbing it with a damp sponge or cloth. Allow it to sit a few minutes before drying it. If the stain does not come out, repeat this step until satisfied. When finished, be sure to dry the carpet thoroughly to avoid mold. For this reason, you should also be sure your washed floor mats have dried completely before they are put back in your car.
You can then use compressed air and/or detailing brushes to get dust out of the buttons and crevices of your dashboard and doors. Wipe off hard surfaces inside your car using a mild multi-surface cleaner.

When cleaning your seats, you should know that different types of seats require different cleaning methods. If you have upholstered cloth seats, you can clean them using furniture shampoo with a wet-vac extraction machine. Be sure that the cloth is completely dry after shampooing.
Leather or vinyl seats are treated differently. They can be cleaned with specific leather or vinyl cleaners. Then it’s good to hit them with a leather brush. Afterwards, the cleaner can be wiped off with a microfiber cloth. If you’d like, you can condition your leather seats after shampooing in order to prevent drying and cracking.
4 – Wiping windows
For finishing touches, spray glass cleaner on your interior windows and mirrors and wipe them clean for a streak-free look.
While detailing is important to maintaining your vehicle, it’s also important that you bring your car in for regular maintenance. If you have any questions, simply contact us here at Ultimate Motors or give us a call for more information.
